Patient Zero

In every zombie apocalypse scenario there is a Patient Zero, the first person to be taken down by the zombie plague and turned. Before Patient Zero's loved ones could find a sawed off shotgun and end the zombie menace, they were bitten and the world fell into chaos. It's a sad, sad tale.

This week the role of Patient Zero was played by Bug, my three-yer-old son. Based on observational evidence, Bug has no immune system. Any crud, plague, cold, or bug going around town will knock him out. Everyone else sneezes for a day, he has a week long fever and head cold.

Meet Patient Zero

What I'm trying to say here is that I didn't run this week. At all. I Mommed. I ran a plague ward. I washed unreasonable amounts of laundry. I won't bore you with the details, just use your imagination.

Bug is now on the mend, he's been fever-free for twenty-four hours. I have high hopes that I might be able to run a mission this afternoon, although the new Zombie 5k training app isn't available for Android yet (curses! foiled again!), which means I don't get to try that yet.

How has your week been?

  1. I used to be like that as a child. Every time I got sick, I would spike a 104 degree temp. Now, I barely get sick at all. It's building his immune system for later. It stinks now, but it'll be better when he's older. :D

    1. This kid catches every disease known to mankind. If the zombie plague hits, he's dead. A zombie will look at him and he'll fall over craving brains. Everyone else in the family bounces back fine, but he's always been the one who can't get healthy. It drives me nutty! Cranky 3yos aren't fun.

  2. I brought home flu one winter, and it ran the entire family, except my oldest daughter (who was five at the time). I was flat on my back in misery for three days, and when I got done, my one-year-old and two-year-old began their run with the "blessing." I had the son on my side of the bed all night while my wife took the two-year-old on her side, with buckets nearby for emergencies. Then my wife got it, and our older son. Then I got it again coming down the backside. So yeah, we had our own little zombie plague. Know what that's like. Hope lil guy gets better quick, sis.
