The Movers Came...

... and I am so not ready for the boxathon that is coming in a week.

Monday the 15th the invasion begins, which means I need to have everything set and done no later than the 14th. That's only nine days to square away everything, clean my desk of current projects, set the blog and tweets to handle themselves, and remember how to set the away message on my email.

Getting internet hooked up in Alaska is going to be an interesting challenge. They have metered internet up there. METERED. I haven't had to deal with metered internet since before Netflix was invented. I just don't see this ending well.

And then there's the logistic challenge of packing everything needed for a family of six into the allotted airline luggage. Six people, four weeks between packing and unpacking, four hotels, four states (although our stay in Illinois should be brief), and we can only pack 50 pounds per bag AND must be able to fit all bags and kids and Dog into one car.

So that's going to be fun.

... what are you doing in December? Any fun plans? Tropical vacation? Skiing? Reading books by firelight? I'm celebrating the holidays vicariously, so let me know what you're doing this month!

  1. Other than holiday gift stuff, nothing much. We have a tree and all sorts of decorations though.

    1. Fun! We aren't doing the decorating thing this year. My neighbors keep acting like I'm Scrooge.

  2. Let's see. Taking vitamin supplements, hoping no one else ends up in the hospital for a while, decorating, finishing off the final gifts, wrapping presents, making part of Christmas dinner, being around a very noisy family, relaxing. That should be my month. :)

    1. Avoiding the hospital is very important. I hope you can keep that goal!

    2. It's been the year for hospital stays. Half the family has been in at one time or another. Some of us for repeat visits. My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux this year after three trips in for severe abdominal pain and then went in a fourth time to find out she needed emergency gall bladder surgery. *rolls eyes*. Like we needed any more troubles when it came to meal planning. Still, we have adapted and will continue to do so as needed.

It would be nice to not have anyone in the hospital in the upcoming year. Somehow though, I don't think I'll be getting that wish.

  3. Preparing for Novella release. Finishing a book to go to my agent. And blessedly writing something new!
