Night At the Operation

Confession time: I am a genre whore. I do not have shelves stuffed with strictly sci-fi. I wish I could, but some of the best authors I know refuse to include space ships, blasters, and the adorable Han Solo in their work. It's sad.

The good news is I've aimlessly wandered and found some terrific reads, half the time while researching things like serial killers. On my hunt for serial killer facts I found crime writer Jeffrey Cohen, who does something I've never seen before.

He makes murder funny!

I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett. I love comedy in every genre. The fastest way to get me to fall in love with a new author or series is make me laugh. Like dear Lizzy Bennet I dearly love to laugh.

Now Jeff has the third book in his Double Feature Mystery series coming out in eight weeks. A Night At the Operation already has me excited. I love the series characters. I enjoy the deft humor. But there's a problem.... the author needs to advertise.

Haven't we all been through this before? Or at least through a blog post about advertising?

Here's the Contest: Go read Chapter 1 of A Night at the Operation here. And then report back to Jeff on what kind of advertising you think he should do. We're writers, we can be creative.

If Jeff uses your idea, you get an autographed copy of one of his books. As an added bonus, if you can prove Jeff used your advertising (a photo op with you and the book will work) I'll throw in some bonus advertising for you: a book block (a la Lit Soup) wherein you can advertise your book, blog, or website.

If you're on CC I'll also throw in 3 chapters critted on demand.

  2. Looking for facts and information on writing a murder mystery I stumbled on the blog he leads. I loved his sense of humor the blog, so I picked up the book he had coming out then.

Now I need the rest of the series!
