All the topics!

There are so many things running through my head today I don't know where to start. Should we talk about the #TwitterSilence and bullying of intelligent women that turns into death threats? Should we talk about cons and conventions? What about queries or beta readers?

Maybe I should try to do some over-arching topic that covers them all but there are several religions who have tried. Wil Wheaten summarized all their teachings best when he said, "Don't be a dick."

There. In black and white. Don't be a dick. Don't be mean to other people.

Shall I put it in the active voice. Choose kindness. Act like a thinking, erudite, professional who respects everyone. Smile at people. Speak with kindness. Let your professional work be professional and let your private life be private.

If someone rejects your query, move on.

If you take a lover, don't take pictures of you in an intimate situation and post them on the internet.

If someone breaks up with you, or refuses to date you, move on.

MOVE ON.

It's a great idea for all of us.

Try something new. Write something different. Pick a new favorite color.

Do not let the past embrace you because it will slowly smoother you. Old ghosts will pull you back, they will whisper that you will fail, they will tell you that you are not good enough, but they are wrong.
