Summer Lovin'

"I had me a blast!"

Sing along with me now! *hums for a bit* Sorry, that's all I know.... Anyways.

The other day I had someone ask if I wanted to participate in another round robin-ish blog thing where you post a snippet of what you wrote that day. I thought about it, and realized that I'm not actually writing fiction daily. My head has been in the Realm of Summer creating math tests and English lessons.

Every summer I homeschool. Some years we focus on messy science projects, sometimes we work on art. This year I have a full curriculum planned out because of Secret Reasons.

Planning lessons for math, language arts, literature, communication, science, art, music, history, and geography is actually harder than you might think unless you have teaching experience. I'm basing my lesson plans on what worked for me as a kid, but I'm drawing a blank on Year 5 (5th grade). I went to school that year, but I almost failed. My parents were in the middle of a messy divorce so that year was just a write off for me.

I am writing in the middle of all this chaos. Not fast. Not a lot. Here's the fiction line up for those of you who couldn't possibly care less about math lessons:

EVEN VILLAINS GO TO THE MOVIES - final line edits with last round of betas
LADY OF THE LAKE - working on the second act (25% done)
JANE'S SHADOW - outline and early chapters
Heroes and Villains 3 - outline and early chapters

What you're going to see on the shelves by the end of the year will be SENSATIONS (a SFR short coming out this summer) and EVEN VILLAINS GO TO THE MOVIES. Hopefully HV3 will be out before March of next year but there are some factors out of my control right now that could prevent that.

What about you? Do you have fun plans for the summer? Are you writing like a wild thing? What's happening out there Bloglandiers?

  1. I am writing a sci fi novel for Camp NaNoWriMo and have about 33K done on it. I am still querying my MG zombie book and my YA dystopian (but have all but given up on it ever finding a home). I am teaching Children's Literature and Writing Fundamentals at a local community college and will be teaching Children's Lit during spring/summer. My wish for the summer is the same as every other summer...find an agent.
