Lady of the Lake

You already know the story of Arthur. He pulled the sword from the stone, ruled England, married Guinevere, and was betrayed by Lancelot. He died. He will return. The same story has been repeated thousands of times.

Katrine knows all the stories at heart. She knows what bits are true and which parts are lies. She knows that when Camelot dwindles into legend forever both the mortal world and the realm of fairy will die with it.

In the timeless place between worlds where Camelot exists and Arthur's throne sits empty the slow march of decay has become a minor detail. The usurper Melehan, son of Mordred, claims the right to be the next king. The Priestess of Avalon is plotting a coup. The freeman of the wood are waiting for a knight in shining armor to save them from starvation. Which is truly unfortunate because the only knight remaining is the oathbreaker who left the round table.

This isn't Monmouth's tale of courtly love and chivalry. This is reality. Someone will be crowned king and everyone else will die.

This is my current novel project. I needed a break from sci-fi so I'm trying some UF set in Scotland (as you do). The blurb needs work but snippets will be forthcoming.
