2013 Writing Schedule

2013 promises to be a very sassy year. Do you see that picture? That's Old School Sass right there! Okay, actually it's my Grandma, but she is the embodiment of Old School Sass for this post. Run with it.

What I'm saying, is 2012 isn't over yet, and  
IT ROCKED MY SOCKS!!!!

I signed the contract for EVEN VILLAINS FALL IN LOVE the last week of 2012. My first royalty check came this year. I finally finished an edit and queried a novel (a huge deal for me at this point). I have interest in that novel. I have interest in future novellas. I have READERS!!!! (And I love you all.)

With 2013 peeking around the corner, I've started making plans for the coming year. I have several novellas for the popular Heroes and Villains series that I want to write/edit/sell. I know that signing with an agent will mean editing and shopping and more editing for JANE DOE. My short story TERRATHIEF is going to hit the shelves on way or another, I'd like to see it in the anthology, but you'll get to read it in 2013 regardeless.

Which leaves a big gaping hole on my dance card under the heading: Write New Novel.

This is a little weird for me. Before I published EVFIL I only wrote novels. Even the unfinished work I have moldering in my files clocked in at over 70k per piece. Novels are a good size for me, they let me explore the world, have a nice big cast of fascinating characters, and build a tower of corpses (figuratively speaking). Novellas are an entirely different creature. I love novellas, but it's like comparing an octopus to a bird, they both have beaks but that's where the similarities end.

JANE'S SHADOW is on dock for finishing next year, but I feel like I should have something unrelated to Jane or Heroes & Villains waiting in the wings. Just in case someone asks me what my Other Projects look like. I have other novella projects - The Apex War SFR series that starts with TERRATHIEF - but I don't have another novel picked to write yet.

So, I'm curious, what would you like to see from me? More SFR focused work? Military SF? Editing on something from the FEY LIGHTS universe? And what are your plans for 2013?
