Six Sentence Sunday: Back to Him

A snippet from JANE DOE...

Sam's ex is in town and wants to try to make things right. She's convinced he won't hurt her...

"Do you hear yourself?" Mac demanded. "He's already hurt you. Or did I hallucinate you crying? I know I still have flashbacks, but that looked real to me. He hurt you. He gutted you, and you’re going to let him trample all over you again."

    I wonder if the "gutting" was literal or metaphorical. And his mention of flashbacks really hooked me - love this sort of thing! Great six!

    Now that's a friend. I've lived this scene and spoken those lines more times than I want to count, and this had heavy vibes of R-E-A-L. Definitely would want to know what happened next.

    (And it pulls me in without any introduction whatsoever... with the immediate ear-perk of great eavesdropping.)
