Six Sentence Sunday - Overkill

This week's snippet comes from JANE'S SHADOW, book two in the Jane series. Sam needs a medical examiner (ME) with top secret clearance to help her at a crime scene and her on-call guy is on vacation. This is what happens when she tells the junior agent to find her a replacement ASAP:

"The air force had a set of fighters doing a refuel at the airport so I commissioned one of them to bring the ME to the local airfield, and there's a car waiting. They should be touching down now, ma'am."

Sam rubbed the bridge of her nose. "You scrambled a fighter jet?"

"You said it was urgent, ma'am."

"Tell me, Edwin, have your ever heard the term overkill?"

Please read the other Six Sunday entries here.

  20. Graylin - That's the question, isn't it? A girl doesn't want to scramble fighter jets for just anyone. *wink*

Jayel - Possibly just a little in love with his superior officer. She seems to have that affect on people.

Sassyspeaks - I hate getting "Ma'am"'d, but it fits the etiquette of the work place, and the scene. I promise, the next time she gets ma'am'd it will be much more sarcastic.
