Move In Day!

Remember Move-In Day in college? I do.

I was 17, a continent away from anyone I knew, skinny as a rail, and loving every minute of the chaos in the Florida sunshine. My mother called that morning to tell me it might snow that week in Denver, and I was three miles from the beach without parental supervision. Can we say WIN!!!

After a couple of kids, and four or five moves, the novelty wears off.

Today is Move In Day for the new apartment in South Carolina. All our household goods are getting dumped at our door step. Minus the couches we left, the bookcases I gave away, and anything the movers broke.

Anyone want to take bets on whether or not my old computer desk survived?

I wonder if the computer is in pieces...

If all goes well, I'll have internet up and running by tomorrow and I can do some REAL posts. Won't that be fun?

  1. Any move-in day where you have to do all the moving of objects yourself is highly overrated.

But moving can be fun sometimes. If where you're moving to is a great adventure and a great opportunity/big step in your life.

  2. P.S. Good luck with the move. I hope everything survived in one piece.

  3. Man, movers and breaking things, eh? Of course, having tried to move things on my own I can see why not having a forklift can lead to broken furniture. Dang some of that stuff is heavy! I'm amazed some of my male friends even managed to lift it.

Also, how annoying is it when you strain for hours to move something and a geeky guy who doesn't exercise lifts it with ease? Dang genetics!

Anyway, good luck with the move. Hopefully everything of importance remains in one piece.

  4. Bless your heart. We moved over Thanksgiving. Our garbage men in the new neighborhood hate us now. Today, they took only 2 of the five big empty boxes we left out there. Good luck!!

  5. Let's not even start with comments on the boxes...

Or the labeling. All the boxes labeled clothes had computer bits. But the monitor is still AWOL.
