True Story - I'm Not Hallucinating

I've found that trying to piece together and edit a coherent blog post while running a fever over 101 is just not doable. I'm headed to the doctor in about thirty minutes. Consider this my apology post for not planning ahead....

So....

About 3am I woke up with a pounding headache swearing that someone had jacked the heater up to 90 degrees. I was miserable, uncomfortable, shaking, and then I started hallucinating. There were little green frogs sitting on the laundry pile glowing in the dark.

It's the Ghost of Laundry Past!

I burrowed under the blankets and told myself in my No Nonsense Mommy Voice that there could not possibly be glowing green frogs on the laundry pile. I peeked, and there they were again.

Shaking, I climbed out of bed, fell on the floor, and crawled over to the mysterious frogs. They stopped moving long enough to grab one. And, wouldn't you know it? The whole pack of frogs attacked!

I stumbled to the bathroom and flicked on the light. It turns out that Baby Boy's new pajamas have glow-in-the-dark frogs printed on them. Good to know.

At that point I decided I needed some meds and cold water to bring my temperature back down and resolved to call the doctor first thing in the morning. No one should wake up to jumping, glowing green frogs.

No, my medicine wasn't made of these. I went for the willow-fine instead. ;o)

  1. *amused and sympathetic* It sounds like you somehow caught the miserable head cold virus thing I had this past weekend. Take care, Liana.

My worst fever induced weirdness was this time I woke up, saw a spot of moonlight hovering over my bed, and somehow convinced myself that it was a tiny alien spaceship hovering over my bed. o_O

  3. What a terrible experience...though I must say you explained it in a most hilarious way. :0)

  4. Ha! Poor girl. I feel so sorry for you, but this was hilarious! One of my friends woke up in the middle of the night and saw a ghost hovering by the door. She stared at it for probably 15 minutes until she finally turned a lamp on and realized it was just a white dress hanging on the doorframe. Good times. You're not alone!

  5. Thank you for sharing your moment. The last time I had a fever, I woke up in the middle of the night and apparently imagined a yelling match outside between a kid and his father. Both my husband and the neighbor kid swore that nothing of the sort took place. At least your frogs were semi-real.

    Get well soon!

  6. Oh dear! Thank goodness you weren't at our house...my lounge pants have glowing jack-o-lanterns, and hubby and I both have large skull-shirts that glow. Talk about nightmares! :-)

So sorry you're ill...that sucks. Take care of yourself, & get well soon.

  7. You're all so sweet!

Baby Boy has come down with the flu so blogging is on hold until we all recover.

    Sorry about the delayed posts.
    Liana
