Everyone okay? Nobody lost a toe or anything, right? Good. Glad to see we're all here.
For me the month of August was a month of editing. I went through JANE twice for line edits (because the first run didn't save), and multiple times for other content edits. I did a first editing pass for EVEN VILLAINS HAVE INTERNS, and some editing for friends.
And writing? Laugh with me now! That didn't happen as much as it should. It's hard for me to switch between editing and writing brain modes. They're both book related, but one is very analytical and sterile, the other is all about lying.
To write a scene you first have to envision it. Think it up. Sometimes act it out. Staring at a blank screen won't get words written. Personally, I think staring at a blank screen is the WORST way to get a book written, but that's a story for another day.
What matters is that August is over and September, cold and cruel, the vanguard of winter, has arrived. The days have been warm, but I know winter is lurking around the corner with a bitter wind that will cut to the bones like a knife. I'm reaching for my sweaters already!
But I also plan on writing Heroes and Villains Book 4 and starting the edits for LADY OF THE LAKE. When I start editing, would you like to see some snippets? That could be arranged.

DeleteWell, primarily Heian Japan (794-1185) and also starting on some stuff for the 1920s (primarily US)
DeleteOoo! That sounds like fun! I'm excited to read whatever you're setting in Japan. :)
DeleteProbably won't be for a year or so. I have a lot of research to do. I know the history well, but history is different than low-level nitty-gritty setting stuff, but this book idea is one of the few that I've had that I feel this deep burning desire to do for a while that has stuck with me vs. "I generally like this idea, so I'll write a book about it."
