The Count Down Clock Has Started Ticking

No, this isn't book related. EVEN VILLAINS GO TO THE MOVIES is still on tour, you still have
chances to comment on blog posts to enter, but this is a different post entirely.

Ya'll, I move in a month.

One month from today I will pack up the car, buckle up the kids, bribe Dog to get in the car, and drive to the frozen north where there is snow, and possibly polar bears. I don't know. Does Kansas have polar bears? It's a frozen tundra, and polar bears like frozen tundras, so I'm going to go with Maybe. Probably yes. Probably at a zoo. But still, they have polar bears.

On the bright side, I've been told it isn't winter all year round and ... I'm sure there's more. Kansas has to have something good, right? Granted, it won't have white sand beaches, fresh seafood, or jasmine-scented nights, but not every state can be Florida. I'm sure there are far worse places to live. Anywhere with an active war or where women don't have rights, for a start. Considered on that scale, Kansas is practically paradise! A cold and chilly paradise with many tundra-ish qualities, but at least I still get to vote!

While I'm busy packing, tell me about the best and worst places you've lived in the comments. And if you've been to Kansas tell me what I'm getting myself into!

  1. Pensacola was good. Iceland was pretty good. (We had warm clothes and those lovely little thermal radiators in every room.) Wasn't as much a fan of the Carolinas, only because the summers were too hot AND the winters were too cold. Yuck. (But good people.)

    1. We were only in South Carolina for six months. I liked it, but I didn't love living right next to the highway.

  2. I don't know. The places I've liked, I've liked for different reasons. Same thing with disliked though, on balance, I found that overall I didn't care for Madison, WI. Too cold and too much of a college kid vibe for a crusty old married man like myself.

    1. I will keep Wisconsin off the list if at all possible. :)

  3. Kansas doesn't get as cold as Canada does. It's still going to be a huge difference especially moving up just as winter is coming in.

On the same note, you're moving only a few days before Christmas? How crazy are you? Not sure if I should wish you a white Christmas or not.
