Sanity Is Optional

I sent out a query for JANE DOE last week. If you follow on Twitter you already know that I had a request from the #PitMad competition. Two, actually. One request for JANE DOE and one request for TWISTED METAL. I also had an editor from a e-publisher contact me and say they were interested in TWISTED METAL's plot if I was looking at shopping it at the small presses, which I was, so that's a good thing.

Queries are - normally - the scariest thing ever in an author's life. It's the big transition step from Writing For A Hobby and being a serious author with deadlines and people checking up on you. If this were a normal week, I'd be hyperventilating over every email.

The query was the LEAST scary thing this week.

And I seriously doubt I will make it to the end of the week sane. My writing to-do list is frightening. My errands to-do list makes me faint. My list of chores to get done in September makes me consider the benefits of cloning myself ten times over. And all I want to do is curl up with a good book and a bottle of antihistamines to wait out the end of ragweed season.

Itchy eyes, itchy throat, coughing... if I go to the grocery store like this I'll probably be put in quarantine. If you don't hear from me soon, check the plague wards and then my bed. I may have given up and gone back to sleep. It would be the sanest thing to do.

  1. Don't feel bad, I have had to write off this entire month. Perhaps in October we will both get our collective **** together!

    1. It's not so much that I'm disorganized, I'm just busy to the point of stupidity. I hope October treats us better.

  2. Sanity is highly overrated.

My Mom has a picture on her wall of a woman holding all sorts of things with the words "Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children." I copied just the words to hang on my wall. Perhaps you need a sign like that too. :)

You'll get everything done in time and good luck with the queries.

  3. I sneeze your pain. I often wonder how creative I would be without perpetually enraged sinuses and drugs that make me feel like my body and my brain are about 2-1/2 inches away from each other in space and about 45 seconds apart in time.

Best wishes on your queries :)

    1. I've spent most the week on antihistamines of one kind or another as I combat ragweed season. I feel your pain.
