Yeah... about those... um...
#epicfail
I'm supposed to be on page 320 by tonight. I'm currently on page 247, and I want to write my current WIP more than I want to edit my last WIP. Not only does this cause tension, but it means that the motivation to walk away from the computer, sit down with my massive tome, and pull out a red pen is weak.
My new WIP is so shiny and pretty. The characters flow. The plot arcs are good. It's chapter seven and I'm on love with my WIP.
My Edit In Progress is shallow, faded, false, brutal, misspelled! I loathe reading it. I hate going through those agonizing pages and seeing the terrible travesty that is rough draft writing.
But I promised my crit-partner I would edit with her. If I don't edit, she'll stop talking to me. Well... probably not. But she may yell at me. There is a distinct possibility she'll hold my Christmas presents hostage. So, for the sake of loot, I'm turning off the computer for the rest of the day, kissing my WIP good night, and editing until I die.
*sob*
I feel your pain. Editing is not nearly as much fun as drafting a shiny new story. And it always seems to take longer than I think it should, for some reason. But hang in there - when you're done, the feeling is phenomenal! :-)
