Admit it, no one is perfect. Not me, not you, not the neighbor down the road... and that's okay.But in the course of editing you need to edit yourself.
DO NOT:
- Bash other authors
- Stab agents with a fork
- Tweet in anger
- Rip apart rejection letters on your blog
- Complain bitterly about someone else's success
- Sell yourself short
- Take rejection personally
DO:
- Remember if you can't something nice, don't say anything at all
- Be polite to everyone
- Put your best foot forward
- Support other authors
- Respect other authors/agents/editors' time
- Keep writing
Any other commandments of good behavior you think writers need to keep in mind?
Excellent post, L. I'm getting sick of negative stuff lately. Oh, look, I'm being negative. Hah. See how it's rubbing off? Positive, positive, positive. I think everybody focuses on the good things and tries to look past the bad, things would be better. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I think sometimes that the Internet allows authors to make themselves known a little too much. We're all human, but that's why it's even more important to step away from the enter key.
