The Long Slow Slog

Hypothetically, what happens if you're impersonating a single parent for six months and two of your four children come down with the Runny Nose Plague? Just brainstorm with me here...

1) What are the odds that the attendant parent who is rocking a sick baby into the wee hours of the morning, being coughed and snotted on, will catch the same plague?

2) With two sicks kids under the age of four, what are the chances of the attendant parent writing more than 500 words a day, or getting the house clean, or - for that matter - getting a shower?

Let me help you here. The answer to question 1 is "Very Probable" and the answer to question 2 is to simply laugh and walk away before you cry.

Some writing was accomplished, but this has been a week of Momming. Yes, Momming is a verb, use it with care. There's a time and a season for everything, and sometimes that means setting aside carefully laid plans and just running with it. Crazy things happens when you go with the flow. Crazy good things even.

Chin up, you're going to survive this too. Let's go hand in hand into the crazy world together, listening to The Hobbit soundtrack as we go.

P.S. The Song Of The Lonely Mountain sung by Neil Finn is my new favorite.
