The "NA" Niche!
Following agents and editors on Twitter can be useful. Especially when one kindly pointed out that St. Martins Press is looking for "New Adult" literature. They want books aimed at college students and 20-somethings. Fiction about college life, buying your first house, your first real job, your first real everything I guess.
And I sat down looking at my writing and went, "That's me!!!! That's what I write!"
To say the least, I'm very excited about there being a market for what I write. It's good to know publishers are looking for work in the demographic I prefer to write to.
Random Writing Realization of the Week: I need to write first thing in the morning. The later I wait, the less I get done, and the worse it is. I've said this before, and I always wind up with at least one day a week where I'm trying to write late.
Eventually, I'll learn.
Random Moving News of the Week: The move is canceled for another year. DH took an in-house move that will have him doing a different job, but won't move us out of the city until late 2011 or early 2012. This means my college vs. writing dilemma is postponed. Write on!
Random NaNo Errors this week:
form = from
and overuse of the word "looked" - all my characters look everywhere
So.... what's your random?
I am falling further behind! Hubby took sick day yesterday, wasn't feeling well, and threw a kink in my writing schedule.
ReplyDeleteI thought you weren't going to announce the whole New Adult category! Keep it to yourself, you said. *wink*
ReplyDeleteGood luck with writing earlier!
Yeah. Mine bleeds over into that new adult category. Hope NaNo is going well.
ReplyDeleteLady Glamis - Shhh!!! Don't tell people they can write there too! I might have competition. Or books to read! Oh noes!!! o.0
ReplyDeleteMary- I hope your DH gets better soon. Write what you can, every word you add is one you didn't have at the start of the month.
Lotusgirl- NaNo is going fine. I like blowing up armies :o)
Yay! I did say there was a market for your work (although I was referring to NNN). :D
ReplyDeleteGet on with the writing then!
Random laughter: word verification is quink.
